You mean like Broadway shows?
Musicals are a hobby of mine.
I like to see live theater.
I also host a radio show on which I play musicals, showtunes and soundtracks.
Been doing it for over 25 years.
I find the music uplifting, and lots of song lyrics are very reflective of life situations.
It all Started in Grade School
My love of audio and radio in grade school using my parent’s cassette machine to record all the voices for his own puppet shows. During middle school, I created a home-based “radio station” with a friend, and had a home recording studio all through high school.
In 1984, I went to college in Cleveland, Ohio. There I joined the college radio station, WRUW-FM 91.1, as an extracurricular activity and decided to merge my love of radio and theater into a weekly radio show.
On September 8, 1985, I began hosting “Sunday Matinee“, a weekly compilation of music from Broadway, Hollywood and London musicals.
Been hosting it ever since!
In addition to my hosting a weekly radio show, I am responsible for selecting, ordering, installing and repairing all of the station’s studio equipment.
The fun at WRUW is completely volunteer (even the technical work).
My Other Volunteer Work
My wife and I are also very active with an animal rescue group in Northeast Ohio called the Public Animal Welfare Society. I’m on the Board of Directors, and also volunteer with my wife at various events.
We foster kittens and cats in our home to be adopted out through the rescue group to “forever homes”. We are advocates for controlling pet populations through spay and neuter, stabilizing feral cat colonies through trap-neuter-release, and no-kill shelters.
That’s a little about me and what I do in my spare time.
