What's Your Lead Generation Process and How Can You Improve it?

Looking For a Good Lead Generation Process?
A good lead generation process is crucial to the financial success of any company. Leads are an essential element in building any sort of business successfully, regardless of whether it is a standard brick and mortar company, a web business, or your network marketing opportunity.
But not every lead generation process is equal in quality. A lower quality lead generation process can end up costing a business way more than it may appear to at the start.
Throughout your marketing process you have to be able to identify qualified leads and separate them from the unqualified. Otherwise, your conversion rates will be disappointing, you’ll get frustrated and your business will fall apart. Don’t fall into that trap.
The Offline Lead Generation Process
Every lead generation process can be labor intensive, whether it’s online or offline. Let’s examine offline methods first.
When you’re generating leads offline, you’re driving to meet people face to face, making lots of phone calls, going to trade shows, attending networking events, and talking to people at the grocery store.
Suppose you have gathered leads by posting fliers and having people fill in forms at trade shows. The work has just begun! Now you have to put them into a database and then contact each person individually.
You probably need to send out some information, either by email or postal mail, and one way or another, you’ve got to qualify those leads before you can make sale.
If this is a brick and mortar business enterprise, the leads are probably given over to the sales department. They have to go through more processes, and on through closing the sale.
Offline lead generation is labor intensive.
The Online Lead Generation Process
You might think it’s easier, but creating leads online can just as complex and labor-intensive. If you have operated an online MLM business for any length of time you are probably nodding in agreement.
People think that generating leads online is “easier” than offline. Well, even though you have an audience of millions when you market online, your qualifying process is even tougher because people don’t know you from a hole in the ground.
Your online lead generation process is typically connected to either your company’s website, or your personal website. If you have a reasonably attractive website and are following the tried and true methods of success, you should be earning money.
For example, a good online lead generation process includes getting visitors into an email auto-responder, promptly answering your e-mails, posting articles and content on a consistent basis, having a prominent opt-in box, and time spent building backlinks and joining social media networks. (If you’re doing all that and not generating leads, you’ve got a problem to rectify.)
If you’re like 97% of all internet marketers, at this point you’ll probably be thinking about giving up and going back to the arena of offline marketing. Especially if you were good at the offline process.
Buying Leads is Not a Good Lead Generation Process
So, if using an offline lead generation process isn’t working for you, and the prospect of generating your own leads online is too daunting, you might start thinking, “I’ll scrape up some money. I will buy some leads.”
C’mon, really? You’d be better off purchasing groceries.
If you’re going to pursue buying leads, your first question will be along the lines of which firms can you trust? The better the leads are, the more costly they’ll be, If your leads are bad, and the conversions are low, you’ll be out of money fast because you’ll be buying so many worthless leads.
So, buying leads might not be the best strategy for you either!
The Final Word on Your Lead Generation Process
It takes cash and time to properly launch any business, and the more money you can invest, the better. In fact, when you have the cash, you can hire a staff for the sole purpose of handling lead generation and other activities that are vital to the company’s success. You can also spend money to advertise correctly, which means you can generate more leads.
Regardless if you’re cash-strapped or not, you need a lead generation process that is really capable of offering great leads that qualify well. You should choose a process that teaches you the most recent techniques of acquiring fresh, qualified leads, thereby leaving you more time to enhance and build your company.

Hi David -
What you say is so true…not every lead generation process is equal in quality.
For example…who is your most profitable lead?
A purchased lead?
A lead from a solo ad?
A lead through PPC or PPV?
If you’re using any of these methods…STOP!
Isn’t your most profitable lead somebody who is
already interested in joining your business?
I can assure you, there are people out there right now who are ready to join your business.
They have been researching your business and they are ready to join.
Isn’t that your most profitable lead?
So why not get in front of those people?
Why not be the one who signs those people?
You have two choices…
1) Contact people who are ready to join your business, or
2) Continue to contact people who have no interest in your business.
Once you understand who your most profitable lead is, your life will never be the same.
